Main factors present in the environment causing respiratory issues

Respiratory problems are associated with difficulty in breathing as a reaction to a substance probably present
in the air that the person is inhaling or the food consumed. With the degrading environmental conditions, the number of people encountering respiratory issues like asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, etc is mounting. The reason for the occurrence of these issues may vary from person to person. Some common reasons causing breathing disorders are as follows –
·        Food allergies – When a particular food item is not accepted by a person’s body, it may cause reactions and allergies making it difficult for the person to breathe normally. These reactions start with symptoms like congestion in the nasal cavity and throat inflammation and soon reach to a stage when the person becomes unable to inhale the required amount of oxygen.
·         Fugitive dust – It is the dust that arises from the soil when any person, animal or any kind of force disturbs it. It is generated in greater amounts in area with a dry air and low moisture content. Fugitive dust can prove to be lethal for those who are already suffering from respiratory problems. Smog, the combination of smoke and fog is also very perilous for such patients. The use of air fresheners and deodorants should also be avoided in homes where people with respiratory problems reside.
·         Molds – Not all, but some molds have been found to be toxic in nature. Exposure to such molds may cause allergies, skin reactions, difficulty in breathing and even death. These generally grow in areas with high moisture content. A foul smell in the atmosphere can indicate the presence of molds even if they haven’t fully grown yet.
Respiratory therapy involves the study and treatment of respiratory diseases. Medical professionals that work in the field of respiratory therapy in Ontario are responsible for monitoring the patient’s condition, administer medication and other important tasks to improve the patient’s quality of breathing.
